BAFFLE - News and Events

…and the result of the BAFFLE vote is ….

(Reading Friday 25th February)

A large gathering of BAFFLE constituents, who were ‘out for the count’ (theme), gathered in Harney’s Bar on Voting Day to hear what was on offer by the 20 candidates. Ceann Comhairle, Mary Ida Kelly, who herself was up for election, kept rigid control of both the candidates and the rowdy gallery. Cheering, booing and the throwing of beer bottles were kept to a minimum.

An excellent night’s entertainment was had by one and all with a variety of poems on topics ranging from national and local politics to vampires (or maybe that’s the same!).

Ballot papers were issued to all present when the candidate poets had stated their case and counting using the PR system began.

The three seats were filled on the first count as all had reached the quota and the result is as follows:

First: Ian McDonald,

Second: Tony Callanan

Third: Eamonn McNally

These will get a BAFFLE pension at retirement age!

The following were eliminated and lost their deposits!

Vicky McNally, Margaret Hickey, James Kennedy, Ray Gately, Joe Conmy, Geraldine Bane, Joe Kennedy, Wiltrud Duell, Johnny Kelly, Barbara Glynn, Mary Ida Kelly, Pat Lawless, Noelle Lynskey, Cathleen Healy, Joe Kelly, Mike Coy. Phelim Leahy wrote and read for the first time at a BAFFLE event and was duly elected a ‘Baffler’

Finger food was kindly sponsored by Ignus and Moira Harney.
