BAFFLE - News and Events

A Walk in the Park.

This was the theme for the final Baffle reading before the October Festival. It was the second Baffle gathering in Loughrea Golf Club and the audience was assigned the task of judging the winners. The upcoming Presidential election stimulated many while others imagined flowers and trees in their lines. One recounted a hilarious walk around The Phoenix Park and another had a blow by blow commentary on the Irish win against Australia in the Rugby World Cup that day. We all enjoyed some great poetry and a little bit of doggerel as well. The affair was very ably emceed by a dicky-bow bedecked Joe Conmy. A great venue and a big thank you to the Golf Club committee for providing the finger food to soak up the alcohol.

The votes from the attendance put Paul Barker on the winner’s podium with Ian McDonald and Johnny Kelly taking the runners up spots.

Those who read were: James Kennedy, Johnny Kelly, Eamonn McNally, Brid Sibley, Vicky McNally, Ray Gately, Joe Kelly, Ian McDonald, Geraldine Bane, Noelle Lynskey, Anne Marie Kennedy, Margaret Hickey, Barbara Glynn, Paul Barker, Meabh McDonnell and Joe Conmy.
